Liebster Award

Hello World!
I've recently been branching out a bit with my blog of late.
I have started to open up more about my personal health and lifestyle and just what goes on day to day.
And I have been checking out more blogs and coming across some really sweet bloggers!
A few new ones that are shaping me would have to be;

And then there are those blogs that I have followed for a while that still continue to inspire me.

Before you go further, I'd love it if you would take the time to check out these beautiful gals and their lovely blogs!
I promise you will go away blessed! <3

The second order of business is;
I have recently been seeing the Liebster Award/ Tag going around!
Do any of you know what the word Liebster means?
It's actually a German word used as a term of endearment.
AWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!! *heart melted* so sweet! :)
And I have decided to go ahead and do it on my blog!
(No, of course I'm NOT doing this because I'm procrastinating from working on a fashion post.)
*wink wink*

There are actually some official rules to the Liebster Award
But since I was not nominated for it
I have decided to make up my own rules and ideas!

1.) Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
(or in my case, who I got inspired by)
2.) List 10 random facts or answer 10 questions about yourself.
3.) Create 10 new questions for your "nominees" to answer

Are you ready? Okay here we go!

Thank you Hannah, and Grace for the idea!
(Some of these questions are a combination of both of theirs)

1.)If you received a free ticket to anywhere in the world, and you had to leave tomorrow morning
Where would you go?

2.)What is your motto?
>> Carpe Diem <<
Translation // Seize the Day
But not as in a "Well we can do whatever as you don't know when you die. So minus well live it up with boos, drugs, and sex"
But as in "Take the chances in life, and live passionately. Don't be bullied into being someone you're not. Be you and be the BEST of you that you can be! Live today for everything it has to offer, but choose things now that will benefit your future for the better. Life is full of adventures, chances, and experiments so don't be scared of what life holds. Trust God to take care of you, and not money or social status.

3.) How would your friends describe you?
Oh dear, what a question! ;)
Honestly though...
Vivacious, Cinnamon Role, Cupcake, Happy, Bubbly, Cute, Fashionable.
(Yes. I have been told/called all of the above by my baes. <3)

4.)Worst book that you have ever read?
Pollyanna Grows Up -Eleanor H. Porter
(which doesn't seem to bother me for sappy TV Shows, but in book form, I personally felt it to be a mess and a terrible bore. )

5.) What is your favorite hot beverage?

I'm actually going to have my lovely followers answer this one!
Cause if you know me at all...
This one is easy!
6.) Who is your all time favorite blogger?
It's actually no one that I am related to or know personally.
And it's a toss up between Disney or Susannah!
But either of these lovely ladies!
Both are so strong in their faith and are NOT AFRAID to say so!
Something I personally really enjoyed reading about when I first hit the blogger scene.
They are Jesus Loving people.
Not in a "Creepy person to the left, don't make eye contact" over the top person, but people who honestly love God so much that they are genuinely bursting with His light.
They are also very honest and open.
Something I have just come to appreciate about people in general.
And they are ALWAYS super cheerful and bubbly!
Whenever I leave their blogs I am so encouraged and ready to face the day.

7.) What is your favorite letter of the alphabet?
I don't know why... It's just kind of fun though.

8.) 3 Favorite words that start with the same letter as your name?
Hello. Happy. Hedgehog.

8.) If you could instantly have the ability to be insanely good at anything, what would it be?
Being a better artist!?
I've always wanted to be able paint or draw really well.

9.) Black or Pink?
I REALLY love pastel pink!
And then there are bright pinks for lipsticks and of course the different shades of peach!
Also, pink is happy to me.
I like black and will actually wear the color now but it's definitely not my go to.

10.) Bling or no?
I used to definitely get dressed up!
Bracelts, anklets, earrings, necklace, rings, ect, you name it, I seemed to wear it!
But of late I'm finding I like styles that make me look feminine and elegant with out too much effort?
So I wear earrings and necklaces and anklets still, but not all at once.
I wear a lot of dresses which are a simple pull on and outfit done type of deal.
Plus I think I adore adding a pair of colorful and fun socks more readily to my outfit than a fancy accessory.
Glitters and sparkles will always have my heart!
I mean, they are just so happy!
How can one not like gold sparkly polkadots!? <3

I have decided not to nominate anyone.
I have a feeling the people who I had in mind, have already been tagged...
But I would love it if you would fill out any or all of these 10 questions/facts in the comments below! :)

1.) Stripes or Polkadots?
2.) Black or Pink?
3.) If you were to go on a all expense paid trip to any place for 1 week, where would it be?
4.) A book that shaped your childhood.
5.) What are 5 words that describe you?
6.) Do your initials spell a word? Or stand for any sort of organization?
7.) Favorite Song that has your favorite hobby woven into the lyrics.
8.) Favorite form of chocolate?
9.) A Bowl or Mug for when you eat soup?
10.) Favorite Card Game?

Driving and racing and laughing and more driving.

Hello world!
Last weekend we all trekked on down to Portland OR en route to the Mount Tabor Longboard race!
I didn't get too many pictures this time.
And some of the ones that I did get are insanely blurry.
I swear my Dad only gets faster with each race!
But I am getting ahead of myself.

My setup in the car;

It is definitely a long, but scenic, drive

A Mount Tabor Tree!
Because I thought to take more pictures of the tree,
Than the actual park/track...

On the day of the race,
I climbed to the top of the Mount Tabor to watch the racers take off at one point.
But I per chanced to stumble across this piano along the way.
As I was playing, I had this guy come up and ask me to replay a song for him and his girlfriend.
The two of them were so adorable!
I had a lot of fun serenading a pair of lovers in the park.
*insert sheepish dorky lovesick smile*
When I got up and turned to start walking back down the trail,
I was surprised and completely flattered by a bravado of clapping.
Looks like I had more of an audience than I knew!
And to top it all off,
As I walked back to where my family had camped out
I had a whole bunch of people who were walking the trail
Stop me and thank me saying that I had completely made their day.
Honestly, the fact that they were willing to stop and
1.) Listen ( even though I bumbled my way through a lot! )
2.) Take the time to thank me
It was more than I could take.
If they thought I made their day, their perspective was wrong. :)

I am sorry!
All of the pictures of my dad are really rather horribly blurry!

He aced the hills!
Watching him is pretty thrilling.

We grabbed Stumptown coffee after the race...

And all too soon we were bidding ado to my brother and his rommies
(Whose place we inhabited to bunk down in)
And hitting the road that leads home.
So long Mount Tabor!
Until next year.

Speaking of Swimming...

Hello World!
So in my last post I mentioned I'd started swimming lessons.
Did you know it is IMPOSSIBLE to find a swimsuit?
I wanted to wear a one piece for lessons and it was pretty terrible shopping for one.
You'd think finding a one piece would be a cinch.
They are always modest and cover you.
*I'm learning how to swim people not catching a man!*
Some of them had so many cutouts it minus well be a bikini.
Anyways, once I found one that looked decent ( i.e. not a neon color or leopard print.)
We may have also gone swim suit shopping at the end of June.... ( But that is beside the point! )
(For those curious, I was able to finally find one and have been super pleased with it!
I am almost thinking that the suit needs a review all on it's own...)

But this post is actually to let you all know about a giveaway!!!
Pretty much the day after buying my new suit,
I was on Instagram and randomly came across a grammar who was posting about a giveaway
For a company called Albion Fit.
It is an amazingly beautiful and aesthetic swimsuit company
You should go follow them on Instagram
I drool when I see their pictures
Their swimsuits are seriously gorgeous.
But they are QUITE pricey...
Thus any giveaway they are having I want all of my friends to get in on the good news and chance!

They also have some TO DIE FOR WORKOUT CLOTHES!

Okay, back to what I was originally talking about
There are only 5 more days left to enter their super fun giveaway!
They are simply asking you to
1.) create an Adventure board on Pinterest
2.) pin some of your favorites from Albion Fit!

Who knows?
You could win.
I may end up being insanely jealous...
But 5 random people will be chosen as winners.
And the prize?
A free swimsuit.

These are my own personal thoughts on what I have only simply seen of this product.
It was my own soul decision to write this post.
I haven't worn any of their product so I cannot vouch for it,
and this post was by no means sponsored by Albion Fit.

Some News

Hello World!
We (my younger sibs and I ) recently started swimming lessons.
Recently as in the start of July.
I am great at keeping you all up "to date" aren't I?

It has definitely been a bit of a struggle for me.
I have been working hard at getting that "perfect beach bod" of late.
You know the one

That is my next set of "news".

I posted once on some great gluten free brands of lipstick and shared some of my health story there
So this is a bit of an update.
Plus since I have decided to post more on life,
I'd thought I'd give some insight about me.

To start things off, I'll catch all of you up.

For pretty much most of my life,
I haven't ever felt well.
The list of symptoms that I have struggled with is lengthy and not all that pleasant.
But I thought that I was completely normal, and so never complained or really spoke of it.
( At least I hope I never complained! )

In 2010:
One of my health problems is having pretty bad eczema on my face/cheeks and arms.
So in 2010, my mom had me food allergy tested to see if that could be a reason for flare-ups.
Turns out I was allergic to Gluten, Dairy, Eggs, and Peanuts.
Okay so first off
Yeah, I was allergic to those foods
But when you are 12 and offered a choice between a donut or an apple
You choose the donut!
*duh! people sometimes*

Fast forward to Summer of 2015:
I had started working out about 2 years prier,
But I never saw any sort of change,
So why eat the food I am supposed to and take working out seriously?
After seeing a picture taken of me at a concert though
I was shocked and annoyed
I looked really out of shape.
So I made a resolution to workout 5 days a week,
To not eat the foods I was allergic to
(Yep, I had to learn how to say no to the donuts. )
And to not eat any refined sugars.
My older brother decided he wanted a change as well
So we kept each other accountable.
But during it all, I only ever felt worse physically.
Which was crazy!
I mean, I was working out,
Not eating junk food or refined sugars,
and I was not eating, gluten, dairy, eggs, or peanuts!
Shouldn't I feel amazing?

Fast forward to 2016:
I got pretty discouraged about how crappy I felt all the time
So by winter I was eating gluten, dairy, and eggs again.
Honestly, I was just getting worse.
I'm not sure where I would be if it wasn't for a bestie's mom actually.
She happened to hear of an add for a medical center in Seattle
I (Internal) B (Bowel) S (Syndrome) Treatment Center.
The symptoms of people with IBS sounded exactly like what I deal with on a day to day basis.
So one cold blustery day in March, my mom and I made our way down to the center.
I met the doctor
We talked stuff over
And they took my blood for new allergy testing.
That's when I found out I was now allergic to;
Gluten, Dairy, Eggs, Nuts, Beans, Beef, Mushrooms, and Pineapples.
After hearing that news, I went on a strict diet to cut all of those foods out.
Two months later and I saw no change, if not felt a little worse.
I did more testing
And the results came back telling me three things.
1.) I have BAD bacteria.
2.) I have close to no GOOD bacteria, and the very small amount I do have is absolutely useless.
3.) I have a fungal overgrowth.

Since then I have been taking pro-biotics to build up good bacteria
And Grapefruit Seed Extract capsules to kill the fungal and bad bacteria.
How do I feel now?
I don't see a difference.
This month has been especially hard.
Probably the worst I have ever felt.
Which has been hard for so many different reasons.
One of them being the start of swim lessons.
I am a pretty self conscious person.
And wearing a swim suit isn't my favorite thing to do, by far!
So you can imagine my frustration when I feel like a beached whale,
and the scale confirms it.
There are definitely life lessons that I am learning through all of these health issues that's for sure!

1.) I am very slowly learning to lean on God's strength and not my own.
2.) I need to learn how to love my body in every way. Not just on my "thin" days.
  3.) I am really prideful.....
4.) I am more than a number on a scale

The thing about fungal overgrowths
They can take up to 6 months before some people have seen any sort of small improvement.
I may be one of those cases.
But when you start the Die Off process, you WILL FEEL WORSE BEFORE YOU FEEL BETTER!
I have to remind myself of that when I get down, and take a step back to look at the big picture.
Suggestions/next steps for me are to
1.) Drink lemon water.
Lemons are full of enzymes which my body isn't receiving currently.

2.) Limit my sugar.
My goal: Just fruit.

3.) Do Yoga every night.
Stretching my limbs helps to both relax and destress me.

4.) Workout every morning for 5/7 days.
It doesn't have to be long, just something to help get my blood going.

5.) Tea.
Both Green and Peppermint are life right now.
Well...after coffee that is. ;)

6.) Eating.
If I am hungry, HANNAH EAT!
If not, it's okay to say no.

7.) Veggies are a better choice for me, than eating corn chips with salsa.

Through all of this all I can say is
I have really, REALLY, amazing parents!
They haven't ever thought twice about anything,
They want me to be healed as much as I do.
And I can't thank them enough for the sacrifices they have done for me!
My mom is so wonderful.
When I write up encouraging quotes
Or print out motivational pictures
She will compliment me on my "cute collage"
But will also be quick to encourage and
to remind me that my body needs time to heal.
My body has been unwell for at least 12 years of my life!
It isn't going to be happy, and be perfect like a Pinterest picture in just a day!
So I need to take things slow.
Make good decisions today
that will benefit me for tomorrow.
To turn to God
To learn to say no when I need to,
and that is okay.

This post was not supposed to be so long...
( Mainly because I can't eat the cake served at parties. ;) )
This post is just a peek into the behind-the-scenes of my life.
I hope too that this post encourages you,
If you are also struggling with health problems
Or even with just facing your image in the mirror every morning.
I like being known as the bubbly, happy girl
Who people would never guess was in pain or hurting on the inside
I want to encourage people
And I don't want to share ugly with them
Ugly is seen and heard about everywhere.
I want to share happy, and fun, and cute, and glitter, and sparkles!
So now that I got all of the catching up not fun stuff out in one long post
We can go back to fun and polkadots!

Life Post

 Hello World!

Due to a sweet comment from a bestie of mine on my last post,
I decided to take her advice and I am going to try and start blogging more on life and uh...
on me, I guess.

Currently the book I am reading.
Also I am so proud of myself!
I have already completed 5 books on my Book List!

My bae gave me this CD by American Authors.
She thought I'd enjoy listening to them.
She was very deeply right.
It has currently been on repeat, taking turns with NEEDTOBREATH's new album.

Having fun with fonts,
and making random notes of encouragement for myself.

I purchased some chokers a while back and I think it has been one of the best things I have bought.
I feel so 9o's kid and hippy.
With my overall shorts,
and my flower crown.
It is blissful!

For summer, our library offered to give away a free book if you read for 10 hours.
My choice.
If you complete 15 hours worth
You can be entered into a raffle to win $50 to buy more books.
That's what my next goal is.

I am still leisurely completing my Wreck This Journal.
A Page for Four Letter Words.
Completed with help from Abby, and her sister Natalie.

What have you been up to recently? How has summer vacation treated you thus far?

Buttons and Blogs

Hello World!

Guess what?!
That's right!
I made a blog button!
And you can grab it yourself too!
I feel quite accomplished.

Also, Vanessa is amazing.
Because of her I made a blog button in the first place.
She has a new page up where she features other blogs and she added my button!
You should really check her and her blog out.
I have definitely been enjoying getting to know her. :)

I know I post about fashion mainly on my blog.
Well that and #whileinbetween moments.
But I am thinking of writing a bit more on the blog.
I might start journaling my food ventures a bit more.
For better or worse.
Or just more...
Anyways this post is pretty random.
So I am going to end with the link to the most adorable song in the world.

Hello World!

In my last post I mentioned briefly how when my cousin was here visiting, we went to the
E (experience) M (music) P (project) Museum.
My mom wrote a much more involved post on it, so I thought I'd do a #whileinbetween post with the random pictures I took of and in the museum.

As I was uploading pictures for this post, I realized I had taken a LOT in the Nirvana section. Which makes sense, as it was probably close to my favorite exhibit. The other pictures were one's that made chuckle as I recognized the films they were from, and whatnot.
And the hoverboards? Yeah, that exhibit made my day. ;)

Have you gone?
What were your favorite exhibits and sections?
